Proraso After Shave Balm

The after shave balm is perhaps the most frequent item in a mens skincare; a cream or gel that looks like a moisturiser but contains the word "shave" on the label, so after shave balm is automatically regarded more manly.

But what exactly does after shave balm do and how does it differ from other skin creams on the market? Could you use regular moisturizer instead?

What about after shave splashes or plain old after shave? The names are frequently used interchangeably, making it difficult to determine which is which and what they are for.

After shave balm is used after shaving, a variety of products are commonly referred to as "after shave" which might be misleading.

Most typically, after shave refers to perfume, such as eau de toilette, which is a scent blended with alcohol that is intended to make you smell great. Because of the high alcohol content, it is highly irritating to the skin and should never be sprayed on a freshly shaved face.

A delicately perfumed, antibacterial, astringent that is applied to newly shaved skin to disinfect and constrict blood vessels. Because of the high alcohol level, this is the substance that gives consumers the classic stinging sensation when they splash it on.

Since the introduction of these types of products, our understanding of skincare has advanced significantly, and we would not recommend using them in a shaving routine because they will dry up your skin in the long run and will not aid in the healing process.

Proraso After Shave Lotion

 A moisturising cream or gel that helps to soothe irritated skin and hasten recuperation after shaving.

After shave lotion has a runnier consistency, which is generally attributable to the low proportion of alcohol in after shave lotion. Contrary to popular belief, the low proportion of alcohol is not drying or harmful to your skin, but rather aids in the absorption of the components. However, after shave lotion can cause a little stinging sensation.

When applied to newly shaved skin, a after shave balm has a thicker consistency that is more moisturizing and does not sting.

Of course, prevention is always preferable to treatment, so we recommend beard balm to avoid irritation in the first place. But, if a terrible shave has occurred, what can be done to alleviate it?

After a difficult shave, reaching for a beard balm is the best thing you can do. Beard balm is specifically intended to soothe itchy and painful skin while also assisting in the healing process.

Does this imply that you should only use post-shave balm when you are irritated?
